‘For His Glory’
Recorded after surviving the worst case of Covid-19
In 2019 Ernest Gonder traveled to Atlanta to record ‘For His Glory’ that was originally written by Kendall Hunter. After spending months in the studio, God had them to halt the project. It would not come together so Gonder decided to stop everything. That was Aug-Dec 2019.
Gonder test positive for Covid-19 in July of 2020 along with 20 coworkers that work in his building (1 died). It was the worst experience Gonder went through in his entire 38 years of living. He couldn’t sleep and could barely even walk or talk. For 10 days Gonder fought going to the ER until 7/14/20 at 1 am. The worst begin to happen. He could not breathe! Gonder was rushed to the hospital where he was given oxygen, steroids, and other medications to open his airway along with a syrup due to his blood glucose being a 42.
As Gonder laid in the bed, weak and in excruciating pain, he overheard one of the doctors tell the nurse that both of his lungs had fluid and were damaged. The nurse replied to the doctor that Gonder shared with her he is a singer. The doctor replied to the nurse “Well, based on what I see I doubt if he will be doing that again”. It was at that point Gonder body leaped and he knew that he had to get up from there and continue the work that God had started. He asked to be signed out against doctor’s orders due to the hospital being crowded and not having a room for him. Gonder told them that he would go to another hospital, however his wife took him home and they did what any believer of God would do. They fell on their knees and cried out to God for grace, mercy, and healing. Not long after their plea to God, Gonder received his blessings and test negative for Covid-19. He returned to Atlanta and told his producer that God said scratch everything from the 1st recording and do everything fresh. Gonder wanted to give God all the glory for his recovery and purpose for singing.
God showed Gonder why it didn’t work the first time. In 2019, Gonder had just transitioned from being a Senior Pastor for more than 10 years to the music ministry. And with this shift, Gonder wanted to prove that he was talented enough to sing with the best. In fact, he wanted the world to know that he could sing without the help from God. Needless to say, experiencing Covid-19 changed his thinking. Gonder no longer care about proving his ability to sing. It shifted his focus to having a desire for God to get the glory for his gift to sing. When he returned to the studio in August 2020, this time it had nothing to do with him and everything to do with God. Gonder added his own adlibs to the song and released his project September 25th, 2020. ‘For His Glory’ is his testimony!
